Calypso Hut 1

I love this restaurant. I always go during lunch time and get their lunch special and it's SO worth it! Their portions are huge and i'm only paying 9$ for the entire plate. Their chow mein and fried rice is so tasty and I love their fried crispy chicken. It's a great spot in Vaughan and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for good, affordable Guyanese food

This was tasty, last minute stop in on a Saturday night. Service was good, a bit slow but the server was maintaining the entire floor. Food was good, I’m not usually a fan of places that cook Caribbean Chinese food but this was tasty. I ordered the pepper calamari which served two of us and we also ordered the special lo mein with chicken on top. The Lo mein did come with some veggies on the side.. the hot sauce on the side added the extra flavour as well. Portion size is pretty huge and could serve 3. I left with a to go box.

Last minute decision to stop here and it's been a while since I've had some of this tasty rice, noodles and chicken. Portion sizes could feed 2 or 3 people. Prices are so reasonable for what you get and for that flavour. Very nice staff and personable owner.

Had to come and try this place once I heard it opened up! As soon as you walk in and get seated, you get complimentary plantain chips! It sold me immediately. Service was friendly, we got the duck, and buffalo wings, both really delicious! Rice was very good too! Anjalie was very cool with us! We got mixed drinks and they were surprisingly good! I didn't expect anything but I was impressed! The owner came and greeted us and made sure the food was good as well. Really enjoy this spot

Yummy food. Inside is newly renovated, lounge vibes! Clean and nice booth and bar seating. The pepper shrimp were big and good portion. Chicken fried rice was fresh.

Tried Calypso Hut 1 and really enjoyed it! The pepper shrimp, wings, and chicken choka fried rice were all packed with flavor and hit the spot. Great portions and solid Caribbean comfort food. Drinks were strong and service was quick

Honestly, I'm really happy we came and gave this place a try. Our entire experience was great! We got the pepper shrimp ($18), hut wings ($15), fries ($6.75) and mixed chow mein ($17.50). Every single thing we got was clearly made fresh to order and SO flavourful too. And although we ordered a decent amount of fried food, nothing was overly greasy which was a huge plus for us. We especiallyyyy loved their hut wings and pepper shrimp. Their pepper sauce, which seems homemade, was also really good and comes very spicy. We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ playing music which was a nice little vibe for the weekend. And all the servers were super friendly, didn’t rush us, and checked in just enough. No complaints at all, we'll definitely be back!!

Unparalleled in their friendliness and attentiveness. But let’s talk about the real stars of the show—the drinks and the food! The Bare Passion Margarita was a tropical delight, setting the tone for an unforgettable culinary journey. The Pepper Shrimp and Chicken Wings were the perfect starters. The freshness of the Hut Special fried rice with the homemade pepper sauce was so delicious! The fact that we drove an hour to get there speaks volumes, and I can’t wait to bring all my friends and family to experience the magic of Calypso Hut 1. If you’re looking for delicious food, friendly staff, and a modern twist on Caribbean cuisine, look no further—this place comes highly recommended! Five stars all the way!
